Giri Sivaraman is a NSW Law Society accredited specialist in
employment and industrial law.
Giri is recommended as an Employment Law and Workplace Relations
lawyer for employees in NSW in the
Doyles Guide to the Australian Legal Profession, 2011

He has advised and represented employees throughout
Australia. His clients include executives in the financial and
banking sectors, medical professionals, senior public servants,
senior marketing executives, a CEO of a prominent NGO, and
incorporated associations.
Giri advises and conducts litigation in all areas of employment
law including employment contracts, redundancy,
restraint of trade, discrimination and adverse action.
Giri recently represented an employee of Qantas in one of the
first successful 'adverse action' cases under the Fair Work
Act.
He has also negotiated a number of significant out of court
settlements.

Giri was the face of the firm's Public Defender column in the
Daily Telegraph while Rebecca Gilsenan was on leave. He has been
interviewed several times on Sydney radio 2UE's legal matters
segment for his views on employment and industrial law issues, he
has appeared on national breakfast television, and has contributed
to the prestigious
Workplace Review. Giri is also an advocate of challenging
workplace laws in order to achieve equal pay for equal work.
Giri is a member of the NSW Law Society Employment Law
Committee. From 2004-2006 he was a board member of JobWatch, an
employee advisory and advocate NGO.
Giri has contributed articles on unfair dismissal and other
employment law issues to legal journals including
Precedent and the NSW Law Society Journal and his
views on legal cases have appeared in a wide range of mainstream
media including the Sydney Morning Herald.
Giri is based in Sydney and sees clients at other Maurice
Blackburn offices, including Canberra.
