David Barnden is a lawyer in the Class Actions and Major
Projects department in Sydney. He advises class members
in relation to the Gunns Ltd and Nufarm Ltd class
actions. He has previously worked on the AWB class action and was a solicitor
for Aid/Watch in its successful 2010 High Court
of Australia appeal.
Before joining Maurice Blackburn, David worked with non
government organisations exploring the synergies between human
rights, the environment and finance. He spent considerable
time in Argentina working on prize winning advocacy for a community
group opposed to the construction of two pulp mills in neighbouring
Uruguay.
More recently David was based in the Netherlands where he worked
for the global non government organisation network
BankTrack. In this role he advised stakeholders on the role of
syndicated finance in environmentally sensitive projects in
Australia. He has also worked for the United Kingdom's financial
services regulator.
